My work as a teacher-scholar is extended through professional activity and service in my department, campus, discipline, and community. I founded a nonprofit community writing center in 2014 and am passionate about using my expertise to support literacy for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Writing Assignments that Pose Wicked Problems: Faculty Teaching Workshop

Wicked problems are complex, open-ended, and require multiple approaches. In this workshop, participants will learn how to design writing assignments that pose wicked problems. These assignments can foster students’ critical and creative thinking about pressing cultural, scientific, and historical problems.

Writing to Think…Creatively Slides and Agenda

Students in all disciplines need to be able to solve problems creatively. This workshop series equips faculty to teach students writing as an ideation and problem-solving tool to enhance innovative thinking in their discipline.
